UFC Fighters Battle Anxiety too - Mallory Martin
UFC Strawweight Mallory Martin and Georgia discuss how MMA has saved her life, how a therapist helped her overcome anxiety and the mind exercises she uses to train mental toughness.
Mallory made headlines at UFC Fight Night 175. Following her comeback win over Hannah Ciphers reporters heard Mallory say "You Saved Me" to Hannah while still in the cage. When questioned about why she said that in the post-fight interview, Mallory broke down stating she had been battling with her mental health during the fight camp and having the fight booked was the only thing keeping her going. Thank you so much to Nari for the beautiful song "Shape Me" heard at the beginning and end of this episode. Nari wrote this song about Shape Your Life, a boxing program for self-identified women survicors of violence in Canada. She wrote this song using the words and experiences shared by participants with Cathy Van Ingen. You can find out more about Shape Your Life in my interview with Cathy in Episode 8.
